Running in a new Stelvio ?

Same for me. Google "motoman break in" for more details. Tom

    Failing Dealers

I am certain that dealing with Piaggio pushed both RH and MPH over the line, but I read that the owners of RH had some ongoing health issues and maybe they were getting ready to retire anyway. MPH has always had the car service side to pay the bills and I'm sure that new bike sales are down in...

    Stelvio windscreen

I had tried shimming out the stock screen to get more airflow behind it, but any more than 1/4" spacers change the screen mounting angles on the bracket too much. I recently had the tank and fairing off for some wiring work and shimmed the mounting brackets out 1/2" with SS washers and linger...

    Service light question

It's the dual USB socket. The rectangular flange with two screw holes is separate and slides right off. The socket is partial press-fit as the slope of the fairing limits how far onto the socket you can thread the nut. It wont' fall out once you tighten it down...

    Service light question

Bike has 4700 miles on it, oil will be changed at 5k and has been in for ~4100 miles. I'll add oil to the halfway mark and see if that helps.

    Service light question

Coincidentally, I have the exact same issue: SERVICE and the red triangle for about 1 second then off. No codes in the dash or ECU, I even tried to clear all stored codes with no success. I also reset the service indicator in the menu but it's still 1k+ miles from the 6250 mile service. I...

    Mirrors

Nice fix, always gotta have zip ties! I did the Euro conversion before I picked my bike up from MPH. The mirrors still vibrate but won't snap like the hollow stock ones. MPH will have the lenses and mirrors in stock. Tom

For the love of God, someone please talk some sense into me!

Incredible deals on new 2014 Stelvios are out there. There was a dealer bankruptcy in So. Cal and another dealer bought their stock - new 2014s were listed for $10,990, $5k off MSRP. Easily covers the airfare and fuel to get home. There may be reasonable deals closer to home, look for...

    Anybody change your clutch lever?

Could not get my stock one out (well I actually did with vice grips - won't be reusing that on the new lever). I got a replacement plunger and grub screw from MPH. Try heating the grub screw to break the locktite. Also, use a brand new allen wrench to minimize the chance of rounding that tiny...

    Touring tires for Stelvio NTX

Ed, You can use the PR4 Trail for the 19" front. I'm going to match that with a regular PR4 rear (the Trail is a softer compound) sometime in the next month or so. Check the Michelin site, there is a .pdf with all the details on the three varieties or PR4. Tom

    Blinded by the lights

Is your bike OZ / UK compliant for riding on the left? If it's a Euro or North America headlight unit (or bike), it will have a right drive pattern which puts way more light to the right than left. That said, I rode a Euro headlight bike in Japan for three years and never had any flashing or...

    Service Due 11k

I do my services on nice round numbers (cars and bike) - 5000 miles - easy to remember. On the Stelvio, I adjust valves / sync TBs, and reset the TPS. Also change engine oil and filter, change gear box oil, and change CARC oil, all at 5k miles. Use the grades recommended in the owner's...

    LED Fog Light Replacements anyone?

Same here, $25 from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G620ZVU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage Throw out tons of white light. I don't use them for DRLs, only at night with no cars around. Tom

    valve clearances & shopping list

8Vs have a reuseable gasket. It's a very easy process on a Stelvio, even compared to a 2V Breva. No special tools needed other than allen wrenches (aka hex keys) and feeler gauges. Do both intakes at the same time (and both exhausts) - use a single feeler gauge under both adjusters at once...

    Syncing Throttle Bodies- Stelvio 8V

Ed, I'm north of Houston, easy back roads from Hutto (79, 36, 6, 105, etc to The Woodlands). I've got an old school tube-on-board manometer and a digital CarbMate so take your pick. GuzziDiag to reset the TPS also. Easy to open up and have a look anytime. I'm also at ~4000 miles and will do...

CARC leak, not the usual suspects

MPH found the source and fixed the leak. The blind hole for the lowest clip on the bottom of the CARC was indeed leaking. Larry and Mike drained and removed the CARC, pressurized it with smoke, and confirmed porosity in the casting at that hole. Mike was pretty certain it was not drilled too...

CARC leak, not the usual suspects

After looking much closer (many times) over the last week, there may be some weeping from the seam of the two CARC halves as Guz5 mentions. It's still under warranty, so off to MPH, hopefully for an in-shop fix and not waiting for parts.

    Maps

When making suspension adjustments and testing them out, I used 2" blue painters tape on the tank and made notes right on it with a Sharpie. There's not a lot of flat space, but you could definitely write down directions, or even tape an index card / paper to the top of the tank. I used a...

    Tyres

I'm also on-road all the time. I've done some research on sport-touring tires and based on my previous experience with Michelin Pilot Road 3s on my 1200 Sport, I'm going with PR4s on the Stelvio in the next month or so. There are three different versions (tons of info on Michelin's site), all...

CARC leak, not the usual suspects

Gear oil is dripping off the lowest / furthest back brake line clip, the one at the bottom of the CARC in a blind hole (not one of the through holes on the swingarm). There is no sign of leaking from the main seal where the wheel bolts up. No oil in the swingarm and no sign of leaking on the...
