Swapping or buying wheels, I hate Spokes!

Have you considered converting to a tubeless setup by using tape or goop to seal up the spokes?

V7 Charging issues / Dead battery -- PLEASE READ

^ Never snip wires and work with an active circuit. Should've disconnected battery or the VR harness first. Just pull your seat and check the fuses. Remove & replace the popped ones.

The only wiring required are the one original ones from your existing VR.

That's the one, although I wouldn't bother installing the fused piece. Just the VR is all you need.

From what I recall, I was able to get to the 2 connectors without removing the tank. Looking at the connectors now, there's easy open access. If you unbolt the VR itself, you have even more access.

Recommendation is the Shindengen FH020AA VR, which is a MOSFET unit. It's also OEM on a lot of bikes. Post #136 has the wiring Post #133 has one source for ordering (many others out there). No extra wires. Just crimp and go.

Wiring is extremely easy. There are two connectors, one is a 3-pin, other 2-pin The 2-pin connector is the Battery positive & ground The 3-pin connector goes to your stator (yellow wires) Note: my 2013 has a 2-phase stator, hence has 2 yellow wires. Most bikes (suspect the newer V7s) have the...

^ why's that? It's plug-n-play. Only negative is downtime lost. The VR is on its own subharness (which you'll trash when you get rid of the broken VR); you're not modifying the main harness. BTW, in addition to the mounting plate, I had to use some spacers to clear the 4 mounting bolts.

Todd - what about having the customer remove their VR, cut off their harness and ship it to you. You can do all the crimping/soldering and send back a new VR. And in parallel, if enough people send back their broken VR harnesses, you can do a core exchange without delay.

When I initially notified my dealer of my +15V output, they simply compared against another new bike on the floor and called it 'OK'. You're better off repairing yourself with a mosfet unit; no dealer support here...

Happened to me at ~400 miles which was discovered by a quickly draining battery - https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/how-long-does-your-battery-hold-charge.11139/#post-83327 I ended up purchasing a new VR out of pocket, vs replacing it with the same OEM junk. Search for "SHINDENGEN...
