    Starting/Battery Issues

After 25 years of riding, I replace every two years, whether they need it or not. Unfortunately, the stock Yuasa sprung a surprise on me and quit after 1 year- all the signs of a broken interior plate. I keep my bike on a Battery Tender JR. when it's garaged, and ride with the voltmeter showing...

    Moto Guzzi Ginza

In ten years, industrial sized 3-D printers with different material and finish options will allow an enterprising 3-D artist to create alternative body kits and sell them as one-offs. Of course, you'll need the measurements and specs of the bikes, so unless the factories release the 3-D CAD...

How to make sure engine doesn't overheat?

Update- it turned out that a previous service shop had cracked the resistor on one of the cylinders, causing the cylinder to miss occasionally. Additionally, they had fitted incorrect plugs to the bike. I took the bike to a different shop and both issues were addressed. The bike ran much better...

How to make sure engine doesn't overheat?

The last couple of times I rode in fairly hot weather (80+ degrees F, ~30 degrees C) my bike started 'complaining' with the lumpy idle and flashing the red oil light at me when revving up from a stop. I decided to get one of the oil temp dipsticks to see what that meant. When I got home from a...

2009 Griso - suddenly, smooth running to coughing and hiccups ...

Could be intermittent spark as well, especially with backfiring... unburnt fuel from a non-detonation event entering the hot headers...check for a loose or frayed wire, a bum plug, or replace the stock spark plug caps with the improved models linked elsewhere on this forum?

    Tyres for Griso

I've got the Pilot Road 4's on mine. My initial reaction is positive but I don't have too many miles on them. I'll know more after I flog the daylights out of them on the first sunny day of Spring here in the northeastern United States :-)

RideMalibu - Rent A Guzzi coming to an end

Wow, you are going to have an awesome time! Make sure you get the lowdown on the good roads from Todd. With a week and a Stelvio, I'd be tempted to do a two day loop up to the high Sierras, especially in June, for the cooler temps!

RideMalibu - Rent A Guzzi coming to an end

Just got back from riding Todd's hopped up Griso. Great rental experience, and the bike was sheer perfection! I'm glad it's cold and snowy here, because I'm sure getting on my Griso in comparison so soon after Todd's would be a huge disappointment! Likewise saving my pennies for the dual sensor...

    2015 Griso performance options

Hi John- I am the owner of a stock 2013 Griso, and I just finished renting and riding one of Todd's dual-sensor autotune equipped Griso. I have to say the difference between stock and the attuned version is remarkable! It rides with V-twin torque and character, but pulls in a linear fashion like...

Griso - Another oil warning light issue

Bummer, there goes the "easy way out." Thanks for the answer- looking again at the online guides they actually say "oil channel" vs. the sump.

Griso - Another oil warning light issue

Just looked up the bike schematic to see how to do the oil pressure test and I see the oil pressure switch is between the "V," under the generator, which means tank removal if I want to access it. Pain in the butt. Perusing some online videos, it appears others have used the oil sump drain to...

Griso - Another oil warning light issue

Trout, I will likely send off my next oil change to check for contaminants- thanks. I look very closely when I change my oil and there is zero swarf in the oil pan or on the magnetic oil plug, but that doesn't mean there isn't something imperceptible in the oil...
