    Norge oil pump failure?!

Dan is correct that the apparent root issue with my Norge was a short that was causing unrequested starter engagement. This lovely feature hauled the bike to a very sudden, grinding stop and stall when it occurred at low speed. I suppose I had read too much about the oil pump issues and jumped...

    Norge oil pump failure?!

Maybe not the oil pump??? After a couple of weeks of testing the bike under various conditions, the guys at Moto Nexus can't find anything wrong. No error codes, no indication of oil pump failure, oil pressure is fine as indicated through the Navigator (Does it give direct PSI view?). It...

Oil Pressure Gauge Kit - ALL

I'm in for a Norge fairing mount. That is, when I get my engine rebuilt. Waiting to hear back on autopsy from MotoNexus. I dropped it off with them last Saturday but it is in line behind an RSV4 engine replacement!

    Norge oil pump failure?!

Thanks Rene, I appreciate the article. My French is rusty but much better than my Dutch! I have a friend who has a translation service company and speaks French and Dutch, so I may call on him. I plan to contact Piaggio today. A bientot- Rob

    Norge oil pump failure?!

VIN of subject bike here is ZG.....112210. So if yours was built between mine and Bill's in Nov 06 or prior, be afraid!

    Norge oil pump failure?!

Sadly, only about 1 second elapsed between the warning light and oil pressure icon illuminating and the engine stopping. I didn't have time to release the throttle and flip the kill switch. No hints of any pressure problems before this; no flickering lights, no crud or debris in the oil.

    Norge oil pump failure?!

I'm in western North Carolina, about 100 miles from Moto Nexus. Warranty expired in October 09, 2 years from original owner purchase. I will certainly be trying to get MG-USA to cover it. It is an early production model...October 06.

    Norge oil pump failure?!

I think my 07 Norge has cr@pped it's oil pump. Has been running fine all winter since fixing a bad electrical short last fall. I went out to ride to work today, my normal routine of starting her up, letting her idle while I close the garage, putting on my gloves and heading off. It was about...

    Norge stalling at low idle

Got her back from Moto Nexus today. Steve had her for 2 weeks and looks like we got the problems resolved. This was a pretty complex troubleshooting situation. 1. He found a fried wire in the wiring harness lead from the alternator. Wasn't charging properly and was shorting out. Apparently...

    Norge stalling at low idle

Does anyone suggest valve clearances other than those in the service manual? I set mine at 0.10/0.15mm. I will also be taking her back to Moto Nexus next week to reset TPS again. After cleaning and reseating the TPS cable connection several times, I'm no longer getting the ECU error 11 (TPS...

    Norge stalling at low idle

The TPS was just replaced last week with a brand new one and didn't help the problem. Mech said it was a pain to get off since the mounting screws are close to the frame.

    Norge stalling at low idle

Still struggling with this issue and just don't have time to run it 100 miles to the dealer. I've taken the TPS connector off, checked the connector for bent pins or closed channels, sprayed it and cable end with contact cleaner, reseated the plug very firmly, removed the charcoal canister...

    Rocker Cover Gaskets

I installed a set of the REAL gaskets on my Norge 2 days ago. Excellent quality and fit. No leaks after 150 miles. Ordered online and got them in 2 days. Rob

    Norge stalling at low idle

Another note...checked the valves tonight and they're spot on. ECU fault code 11 is a throttle ground. Modular connection for the TPS, so the mech didn't wire it wrong. ??

    Norge stalling at low idle

Update... Picked up the Norge today after finally getting the TPS replaced under warranty. Mech also redialed TBs and test rode for 15 miles, ran great with no stalling or "SERVICE" warnings. I headed out and got 15 miles from the shop when it stalled again the first time I had to stop at...

    Stepper motor on/off kit

I'll buy one for a Norge. Still having trouble with my idle and general running state. Waiting for a warrantied TPS and suspicious of the stepper. Many thanks- Rob

    Norge stalling at low idle

John- Yes, Moto Nexus installed the latest map before they started the troubleshooting on my stalling problem. Interesting that he leaned the mixture as I seemed to lack power and the fuel consumption nearly doubled (worse!) on the 100 mile trip home. What's your opinion of the likely root...

    Norge stalling at low idle

Graham- Talked with the mech today. He did not touch the sacred screw, in fact he commented on the sacredness of it. He did slightly back out the mixture screws on the throttle bodies just to keep some more fuel flowing. Not the best solution, so I'm going to restore them to their previous...

    Dunlop Road Smart whine...?

I switched from OEM Metzlers to Roadsmarts on my Norge about 2K miles ago and didn't notice any difference in road noise. I wear ear plugs all the time (other than short, low-speed in town runs) and don't run any slabs; all curvy back roads at varying speeds. Would have to be very loud for me...

    Norge stalling at low idle

Shame on me...but I don't know. It was a bit chaotic around the shop with the rally folks in and out and nearing closing time, and I had been there much longer than intended. I'm going to call tomorrow to find out the details and talk about next steps, closed today. Whatever he did, it had...
