Hi, I'm not talking about third party stands.
I'm talking about a recent statement in the Yahoo Guzzi Group that Moto Guzzi is finally offering an OEM centre stand for the V 7 II. The person who said this says that the stand is now available in Europe. Don't know about Canada and the US yet.
About two weeks ago, someone on the Moto Guzzi Yahoo e-mail list said that Moto Guzzi is now producing a centre stand for the V7 II. Perhaps check whether that is true before checking the suggested alternatives.
Yes,
I think that the bike as it comes has a 15A fuse on the assumption that the auxiliary connections will be used, and I think that if they aren't the amperage of the fuse should be lower, and by quite a lot.
I'm going to test the headlight current, which I expect to be about 5A when it's...
No need to read about circuit design, Just read the actual Moto Guzzi V7 II wiring diagram. After you do so, very curious to know what you think.
It isn't even necessarily the case (haven't checked) that all the loads coming into this fuse are from the same circuit.
I'd love to know how a 15A...
I'm planning to do some measurements on draw, and I'm not convinced that 270W, given the rest of the draws, is that confining.
I'm more interested in what's going on with the fuses. There's a 15A fuse that covers the headlight, but also the auxiliary in-built GPS, USB and Dashboard info via...
Smith, James. Classic Motorcycle Electrics Manual. Ramsbury: Crowood Press, 2015.
Ostensibly about the electrical systems of bikes made before the mid-1960s, Smith effectively covers modern bikes as well, in part to address issues, including pretty recent issues (e.g. LED lights) about updating...
Happy you responded. Turns out my dealer gave me a V7 rather than V7 II paper manual, and the .pdf version that I have of the latter does indeed say 270W.
Does anyone know where it's possible to get a copy of the Service Station Manual in Italian?
My dealer installed this OEM rack, which replaces the grab rails, and as far as I know it does not present installation problems (indeed, I wasn't even charged for installation).
Thanks for this.
I've been able to determine that the Pit Bull front headlift stand does not require, as it does for some bikes, the removal of any V7 II parts.
The remaining question is whether the re-design of the rear stand fully addresses the alignment problem with the original design. If...
Thanks,
Ultimately I'm more interested in protection than looks. Having spoken with a long standing dealer today, I'll be going with crash bars rather than head guards.
I really like the look of these, but would be interested in views on whether they are liable to damage the cylinder - which tubular bars would not - in the event of an accident.
Roberto Fantoni offers next to no information on them, including any information on testing, on the 70tre web site...
Three questions...
Does anyone know if the new rear stand completely solves the fitment problem with the old stand - which Pit Bull describes on its web site as a "misalignment" issue - and does it work with a V7 II Special/Racer?
Also, can the front headlift stand be used without removing...
Thanks Moto Max, finally someone who admits to having run out of gas :)
Your 5.5 U.S. gallons = 20.82 litres, which suggests that the capacity listed on Moto Guzzi's Italy and U.K. sites (21 litres) is correct, with the rest (see original post) being a bit optimistic.
Moto Guzzi's main English site, on its technical download, says 21 liters, as do the specs on its Italian site. The U.K. site says the same. However, on the Australian, Canadian and French sites, the specs say 22 litres. The U.S. site also says 22 litres, but not so long ago, if I recall...
For anyone considering going in this direction, I should point out that I overstated the weight of a 16mm/.62" diameter chain.
2m/6.5' chain: 6.8kg/15lbs
1.5m/4.9' chain: 5.1kg/11.25lbs
Lock adds an additional kilo/2.2lbs.
Follow-up e-mail from the vendor to a question I asked about using the forks:
"Normally we advise you to secure the back wheel, if that's a struggle then in a public place attach the front wheel or indeed forks to the street furniture. The object of the exercise is to lock it in a public place...
Spoke today with the main U.K. vendor of motorcycle security chains, and I think it's the route to go.
I mostly need temporary daytime security, since my bike is locked up at night in a retail establishment, on a major street, that is armed to the hilt with a security gate, locks, alarms...
