I may have a hairline crack in the front crossover. I have read that this is a more or less repeating failure. I want to use header pipes from a Jackal or other model without the front crossover. At Wild Goose, when I brought this up, someone said my midrange torque would suffer, due to some esoteric scavenging effect of the front crossover. Personally, I think that is BS. A 90 degree v-twin has an uneven firing order, so it's not likely that a straight side to side crossover does anything other than lower back pressure. Did MG add the front crossover when they added the third muffler beneath the engine? It seems to me they did not need the crossover when there was a straight through H pipe underneath. So, I'm thinking of getting an H pipe and some headers without the crossover to eliminate the cracking welds at the crossover. I'm fairly new with Guzzis, but there has to be someone who has done this already. My approach to problems like this is to make it better than it was, if I can. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this and if they noticed any difference in performance.

'03 EV Front Crossover

The front problematic crossover was indeed added for increased bottom end torque on the stock configuration. Once you remove the stock colostomy bag it is not really needed. I didn't Dyno a stock version, but I did try the Stucchi version per my tests here; https://www.guzzitech.com/EVPower-Todd_E.html
