Hi all

I need a new battery and am wondering if any of you have bought an aftermarket brand which has lasted more than a couple of years. I normally buy Yasua but am looking for a change this time. Should I go gellcell ? any thoughts ?

Genuine "GELL" batteries were designed for military use (you can shoot them) and are best suited to Deep Cycle duties, which means if you wish to use them in an Auto mobile with electric start, you need a bigger battery because they don't have very high CCA's - Cold Cranking Amps.

Most high quality bike batteries these days are AGM - Absorbed Glass Matt, which are often mistaken for 'Gell' batteries.

I sell Yuasa, and have seen many cheap copies sold under various brand names, most will underperform. Buyer Beware.

I have a Shorai in my Bellagio, it is their smallest (physical size) version because of space limitations due to my crazy mods. It has held up quite well, except for when I neglected it for six months. I need a lithium version battery tender.

I will say that Shorai advised me to get the next output size up, as in the standard Yuasa was a YTX20 (20amp/hr) so I should have used a Shorai with 24amp/hr rating.

I have taken Todds advice onboard and will look into the Antigravity brand if mine fails.

Thanks for the replies.

The AG batteries have caught my attention. I'm replacing a SuperStart YTX16H-BS. I'm guessing the AG1601 will suit my Griso ? or would the YTX12-16 be a better option ? Can I leave the battery connected to the BC-4 charger between rides ? or should I disconnect when full charge is shown ? The Griso can be neglected for up to 3 weeks or more at a time.

The correct battery fitment is a YTX20CH-BS

Although Moto Guzzi like to over compensate (safe and reliable) compared to most other manufacturers. Some modern (big block) Guzzi's have a YTX15L-BS.

I did run a YTX14-BS in my Bellagio for awhile before fitting a smaller Lithium battery.
