My local dealer just got a white demo 8v guzzi from the factory or NA. It has 500 or so miles looks like new .
I got them to match MI demo price and had him run the vin# for recalls. He says it shows all taken care of . When I asked about the cam or cam follower issue that I read about he said MG states that it is not a recall just a issue on a bike to bike basis if needed. Does this sound correct.Should I have any concerns, as I will save 4300 of msrp.
Anybody with experience please advise. All my prior Guzzi's have been Cali models and I love the looks of the Griso and it sounds like the 09 with the early cams has a top end punch. thanks, Tom

Thanks Pete. I will post a vin as soon as they open on west coast CA. If possible could I get the info today as if it is a non-issue I am going to give a deposit. The dealer sold Guzzi since 95 then stopped when they weren't getting paid on warranty claims during the hydro era but Guzzi made them whole a couple of years ago and now they are selling with Ducati and Triumph, MV, and RE. I am hoping that if something ever happens to MG that this will be one I can ride for 15-20 years and by then Ill be to old to ride. thanks, Tom They are Munroe Motors in SF and have been in business a very long time.

Pete Vin ZGULSU0069M112027 Todd Haven says yes its needed, MI says yes its needed. My dealer says when they put it in the system its shows no requirement? Trying to get to the facts. My dealer is Munroe and MI spoke kindly of them. Todd was generous enough to email the sheet showing Valve bucket recall and no work performed to date. MI says the same and listed the latest part to order 87875 on the lifter. If the bike has miles and this was a factory demo with 600 miles but looks as new.The service bulletin with directions on Squaddraguzzi states any bike that has miles on it must have a motor flushand new cams with the new lifter buckets. Let me know please ,Tom

If Todd and MI say it needs doing then it needs doing. I don't have direct access to the warranty and recall systems and have to pester the importer, in the USA I think most dealers have this abillity. As long as the tappets haven't failed the flush is un-neccessary. As soon as they do fail the idea that a simple flush will cure-all is so patently ridiculous that I find it insulting to the inteligence! I would strongly recommend you don't ride the machine until you are SURE one way or another that it is right.

Pete

Thanks Pete. My purchase will hinge on this re-call issue. Todd says he has seen bikes that have not had it done that have 0 problems but says it is mandatory. I guess I will find out today and Todd was even kind enough to say they are welcome to call him. Tom
