Honestly I don't see a short term high speed (less than required time to come up to operating temp) to do much more than attempt to verify that nothing " mayor was overlooked. It almost certainly has little to do w/ring seating as the next 500-5000mi do.Engine temps don't even come close to "normal" for at least 10mi. That said I've been reading the Guzzi workshop manual ,that I just received aside from the expected translation anomaly's I found it interesting that no mention of fuel filter service, despite the filter issues posted on this forum also no torque spec. for the oil filter bolt ? There is however ,in the maintainance section an in depth procedure for determining crank shaft end play Hmmm! Aside from the obvious valve clearance spec. This is the only internal engine info in "maintenance" ? Is there some little issue Guzzi isn't telling us? I didn't get the engine manual yet ,it should make ,at least for me interesting reading. There are many opinions on engine break in ,many performance/racers prescribe to the ,break it in the way you intend to run it ,and that method has a certain validity to it,especially when maintanance cycles are accelerated & time is an issue .personally @ this stage of the game I prefer riding to wrenching .oops almost glossed over the new manual is way better than the mess that I had for my 80 sp1000. I've only got X number of miles left in my tank so I'm looking for many trouble free mi. Used to maintain a fleet of over 265 vehicles working with a crew of 8-10 talented(mostly) people ,I'm glad I made it out alive. Now its riding time! Do what works for you & let's continue this gentlemanly discussion @a Guzzi rally w/campfire & beverages .
