My SP is apart this winter for misc. restoration and maintenance work. I found what seems to be more sloppy work by the mechanic who did a major restoration 13k miles ago. My eye just happen to land on the circlip on the rear brake rotor side of the axel. The circlip is not bedded in a groove but is resting on the outer diameter surface of the bearing sleeve. It appears that the bearing sleeve has to be moved to the left by about 2-3 mm. The wheel rims were powder coated so I suspect that this has something to do with it. I'm trying to get the cush-drive plate off to get a better look. I plan on pounding bearing sleeve into position. I didn't find anything helpful in the shop manual. Any comments or tips? Should I replace the circlip with a new one?
