Getting there, stripped it all down to get to the clutch plates (@ 6.65mm, min thickness 7.5mm) and while I was at it had the swinging arm, gearbox support and torque arm powder coated. Started putting it all back together and it looked so crap that I stripped it again and sent the rear sub frame away for powder coating too. Decided to have the shock reconditioned and the spring re-coated while I wait. Should be good.
Just looking at the manual and I can't see the torque setting for the swing arm bolts, I've put in new bearings at £50 each so I don't want to bugger them up over-tightening them.
Any thoughts people?

Maybe I am not understanding your question correctly, but don't the spine frames have to threaded bosses at each side that are adjusted to center the swing arm? And then there are nuts on the bosses that are used to lock the bosses in place once they are adjusted correctly.
 
GuzziMoto you are correct. The pins are adjusted for equal exposure from the "pork chop" to center the swing arm. These are not torqued, just snugged so the bearing can move without slop. The the cap nut is set to prevent the pins from moving.
 
So just nip them up enough (equally) to prevent any slop, nothing specified.

Yeah! Bought a MK3 years ago with rock hard suspension, adjusting made no difference with pre-load etc wound right off.
Discovered both pins and locknuts had been done up by Neanderthal man. Once tensioned correctly I had a bottoming pogo stick,
readjust shocks and the ride was smooth, thank you very much Boof!
