Hi All,

Just got myself an 85’ 850 T3 and having some electrical issues with the police version and looking for a bit of help. Indicators and Horn not working, switchgear ok after continuity test.

Does the Emerg and or Lights isolate the indicators/horn loom? I cant find a police schematic unfortunately.

May be a silly question but why are there two flasher units?

I got an 850 t3 replacement flasher/horn/starter relay (plastic), however I cant find where its located on the bike? There is a rounded silver metal relay under the fusebox?

Final silly question, fuses are the torpedo 15amp fuses which I cant find a supplier of (only 16amp). Anyone know a supplier of 15amp torpedo fuses?

thanks,

lewis

From your writing your are mixing things up a bit. The flashers used are the old style round thermal flashers. Relays are a completely different animal. If the bike has original switch gear, I suspect that is most of your problem. Those switches were marginal at best when new and after this many years they are just junk. Basic wiring for horn, turn signals are the same as civilian bikes. Additional harnesses added for pursuit lights, siren, and radio. The second flasher is for the pursuit lights.

Are you sure about the year? The T3 was long dead by '85, replaced by the T4 and then the T5. It sounds like you may have the same or a similar instrument housing as a Convert. "Emerg" activates the four way flashers, "Lights" does nothing on civilian Converts.

Perhaps a wiring diagram here might help: www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/sportissimo.html

Yes, Tonti frame Guzzis of that period had two (round, can-type) flashers, back-to-back in a rubber holder, under the right side cover. The Convert and some others with the "breadbox" instrument housing and police sidestand had another mounted up under the tank that flashed a warning light ("Park" IIRC) when the 'stand was deployed.

The relay under the master cylinder and fuseblock is the starter relay, the factory relay was rectangular with a translucent plastic case. There is another similar relay up under the tank for the headlight flash function.

15 or 16 will work fine, 1 amp isn't going to make any difference.
