Hi guys nice to join the site......luv guzzi's.....got a problem with the electrics on my beautiful cali 3 she's died on me and i'm looking for help side stand disabled power to all relays but no spark.....any one got any ideas i've followed carl's scematics and just cant figure it out the sun is blazing and i'm driving around in a puegot partner van ....it hurts HELP :S

The side stand switch may have failed. Simply follow the wire up under the tank and disconnect it. If power returns great, if not we need to dig deeper.

The way your original post is written, it says the "side stand disabled power to all relays" Probably just a translation error or similar. Have you done any circuit tracing? I'd use the 1988 California 1000 schematic in the downloads. *It should cover your 1993 as there were minimal changes, if any, electrically. This thread on circuits may help. https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/topic?f=160&t=3001 Let us know where you have power and where you don't but should. Reference the schematic for item and pin reference. I'd start at pin 30 on the ignition switch. Follow the power from there to where it should be, going to the digiplex unit. It may be necessary to back probe connectors. If you don't know how to do that, let me know and I'll attempt to explain the technique.

Hey guys thanks for all the help and apologies for my grammar. I have already disconnected the side stand safety switch
The bike was running great and i have checked power to all and everything to the phase sensor. how does the phase sensor work? will continuity only be there when aligned correctly with the flywheel contacts? Is there a test method for the digiplex as its a sealed unit? I am sure we will conquer this and i am learning more each day and getting an affiliation with her thats more apparent with the wife lol

If you disconnect the sensor it will have continuity at all times. I think it is the same sensor used with the P8 ECU so that manual would list the specified resistance which is 680 Ohms +/- 10% at 20 degrees C. When the magnet(s) in the flywheel pass the sensor, it induces a current pulse that the digiplex uses to time the engine. I don't have any experience with the digiplex, so I'm not sure how to test it. You might find a maintenance manual here that would cover the unit. http://guzzitek.org/gb/accueil_gb.htm. Can't guarantee the manual will be in English though.

I have this schematic if it's of any help.

1. Flywheel
2. Sensor
3. Air gap 0,3 - 0,8 mm
4. Electronic control unit
5. To intake manifold by link pipe
6. Ground
7. Advance adjustment wires
8. L.H. cylinder ignition coil
9. R.H. cylinder ignition coil
10. Remote switch

Relay (car type) dedicated ignition system:

terminal connection

85 +Vbatt. under key
86 earth
30 +Vbatt. (2,5 MM2 hollow section)
87/87b Digiplex/BAE850

11. Diagnostic interface prearrangement

How is this going? Any progress?

I have a '94 Cali 1100 (same bike, slight increase in CC) which is suffering similar symptoms. Occasionally it will burst into life, and stay running, but when I shut it off and try to restart - no spark again. Used to be ultra reliable.
