2005 V7 Breva Odometer stuck on 99999

if you understand the title, chances are you've been there.

The odometer stopping at 99,999 miles or kms (kms for me ... approx 60,000 kms ago)

This is an old issue ... is there a fix for it yet apart from replacing the whole dash? ...which in my neck of the woods (Australia), will cost about $1000.

How have people overcome this limitation?

Thanks

there are quite a few instrument repair specialists around now
soemof them started off with the older mechanical instruments and now cater for electronic equipment as well
surely one of them will be able to rectify this easily

Only if they (1) care and (2) know what to do...

... so far, I'm still looking for anyone offering this service. If anyone hears of anything ... because a new dash is about $1000 landed in my country.

Hi Everyone,
My wife was so proud of reaching 100,000 She stopped and took a pic of her odometer at 99999 and was suprised thats where it stayed. We are using the trip meter to count every 1000 to use as a service record.
Cheers, Chris.

I'm in the same boat and do every trip meter's worth when I refuel. It's hardly accurate nor convieniant.

Have you come across a better solution? Approx 160,000kms and still going strong, so far.

I can understand that this "annoying" comma but.

It would take way more annoyance than that -- with Guzzis, such is available often enough :giggle: -- to spend more than $50 to fix. But I have my own rock garden of pet rocks and peeves, so understand the angst.

These days, I wouldn't bother with the trip meter (well, except for trips or fuel use), and would instead -- again, if this really bothered me with a 16-YO model a tad out of warranty ;) -- take a c/p pic each time and put all of those in a separate "album" on my laptop. YMMV.

BTW, my EV has 104K miles. It rolled to "00000," so I added a sticky "1" to the left of the row of zeros!

Best wishes from the top of Virginia,

Bill

This is not just a Moto Guzzi issue. We just sold a 2006 Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix with 299,999 KM on it. It had a few thousand more KM than that as indicated by the trip odo. It was also a surprise when we found out this was the case in all of them.
The car never broke down and only had 1 CV axle and 1 clutch replacement in all the years. Regular wear and tear items only.
