Hello group. My 2007 Cali Vintage has just clocked 40000km and the shaft has never been touched. Do l need to grease the uni joints ?. ls there any other maintenance required for the bevel box other than oil changes. I change out the gear oil every 10000km. My tacho needle won't go past 2000RPM. Has anybody else experience this. Is there any maintenance that l can do that may fix it. Thanks RJ

The universal joints are sealed. They cannot be serviced. Only service is to grease the splines on the rear wheel when you do a tire change. Tach failure isn't uncommon. Only thing to do is replace if you can get one. However there is no real need to do that as the ECU has a built in rev limiter.

Thanks for the heads up. I pulled the rear wheel today and greased the spline. I adjusted the valve and changed out the plugs as well. When l fired her up to check for oil leaks around the tappet covers, l noticed the tacho would reach 3000 RPM when l reved her so it may be working again. I'll know when l road test her :)

The tachs are very weak. They damage easily. When they go, they exhibit the symptoms you are describing. Mine did the same thing and I was lucky to find a NOS unit.

Thanks for the info. Mine started working again but only only for a short time. I have found a NOS tach in the UK :)
