1. ABS light and red service triangle came on simultaneously during in-town riding.
2. Speedo needle went to zero mph.
3. ECU error 56 displayed.
4. Removed & cleaned F/R sensors.
5. Reset diagnostic codes.
6. Removed battery neg cable for 10 minutes and re-attached.
7. ABS light, red service triangle, and ECU error #56 returned immediately.

Question: Is vehicle speed determined by input from ONE sensor or combined input from BOTH ?
Question: Any VOM test to determine if sensor(s) is/are bad?
Question: Since each sensor is @ $54.00 from AF1 Racing, which one to replace?

Bike runs perfectly.

And check the connectors to the sensors in the loom.
I "think" it uses the front wheel sensor, but not certain. It only uses one, I do know that.

From the Service Manual:

FRONT SPEED SENSOR
It is used by the ABS module, and then by the ECU
and the instrument panel.
Differential Hall effect sensor.
2-pin connector (Supply / Signal-Earth connection.)

REAR SPEED SENSOR
It is used exclusively by the ABS module.
Differential Hall effect sensor.
2-pin connector (Supply / Signal-Earth connection.)

I'm going to WAG that the problem lies with the front sensor since the ABS light came on as well as the speedo dropping to zero...

This makes sense since rear wheelspin would cause speedo error....

Or I'm totally wrong...

I'd say you are correct.
