Just got it firing!
Hello all, I have just bought a 2009 California Classic, that has the tubeless wheels, a bit like a GS Adventure or Caponord, where the spokes exit to the outside edge of the rim. If it helps, the frame is a ZGUKDE prefix, the wheel parts numbers are GU03610370 and GU03630670.
My question is about the original finish on the wheel rims. What I am looking at is a black rim, that has been brush painted quite badly. The library photographs of my model and colour of bike give the impression of being either just polished ally, or maybe anodised in a silver finish.
Can anybody shed any light on the original finish please? I'm planning on having them fixed over Winter as they spoil the rest of the bike, which is in excellent overall condition, as it should be with 7000 miles on it from new. I believe the wheels were painted because the bike has lived outside since almost new. This link shows an identical colour scheme and model bike to m
