2010 Griso tuning and parts question

I have a 2010 Griso with 7000 miles on it. I just did a 1500 mile ride through the Sierras and feel it needs tuning. It has a Termi exhaust w/out baffle and a adjustable unit plugged inline on air box temp sensor. Mods were on bike when I purchased it. it is just not smooth at low end. I was have a issue with cruising smoothly in the 3200-4000 range, and after I removed the DB baffle in the can, I kinda cleaned up in mid and upper rpm range but it doesn't like a 33- 35 mph speed. I'm not sure if it has been re-mapped, or if adjusting the module will do enough for me. Suggestions? Thanks ~T~

The sensor fooling devices are limited in what they can achieve. Even if you adjust them to correct a low throttle low rpm running issue the O2 sensor will readjust back to the "desired" mixture.
Todd offers a variety of fuel correcting solutions ranging from low buck sensor foolers that offer limited results to full PC5/AutoTune kits and ECU reprograms that remove the O2 sensor "correction".
I have the full kit on my 2V Griso and it works well.
Some will say that running a pipe without a db killer will hurt performance. especially the 8Vers.

While you can opt for any number of sollutions for your problem I would strongly recommend that you ensure that the machine is tuned correctly before spending money on anything to try and cure a problem that may not be there.

First things to buy are some sort of tool for ballancing the throttle bodies and one of the diagnostic tools like VDSTS that Todd sells for a very reasonable price that will run off your laptop. This will enable you to ballance the throttle bodies, find out what map is in the ECU and re-set the TPS.

If your bike doesn't have the #68 map in I would advise getting it installed as this addresses most of the issues with the lurchy 8-stroking type behavior on a light, constant throttle. I would also advise leaving the dB killer in the Termi pipe as running it without upsets the mixture and will rob you of about 4HP at the top end and several ft/lbs of torque in the midrange.

If, after you know for sure that it is tuned properly, (Do the valves as well before buggering about with the FI.) you are still unhappy? Then start looking at further 'Enhancements'. I for one am so happy with the way my 8V now runs I decided not to pursue any further enhancement options. This is not to say that there are not small gains to be made, simply that to my mind there is not enough to be gained that it outweighs the expense and added complexity.

YOMV.

Pete
