Hi all,

Had the 5k service done and now the fuel is leaking. Not at the fuel pump assembly or injector connection. But the other 2 little nipples - one is leaking. I'm not sure that i ever saw them hooked up but have connected them in the way that they were laying. I think that one is for the fuel re-circulation and one for tank overflow. I had to replace the tank overflow hose because it was cracked in 2 places. It is now connected to the front nipple and leaking about 2 -3 ounces every 8 hours. Do i have those 2 hoses backwards?
Also the left side of the tank does not seem to be catching the big roller grommet and will lift up a little bit. Is that because of the tank expansion?

Thanks
Matt

One is the tank vent line. This line goes to the charcoal canister system to capture evaporated fuel. The other is for fuel overflow when filling the tank or to drain water if it gets in around the filler cap. Not uncommon for these lines to crack.

John,

I only rode it from the trailer to my shed (about 1/3 the distance of your driveway) and the next morning it was leaking onto the left side (side on the kickstand). With the tank on I couldn't see where the leak was coming from. Took off tank and still couldn't find it. So went to Autozone and got a replace overfill hose and clamp. Put that on the front tank nipple. Now I have that draining into my magnetic bolt bowl. I can see it dripping from the hose. Do you think i need to swap them around?

There is some type of internal line for the overflow. That internal line may be the issue, or the fitting. Can't be sure. I suggest you set the tank on a bench and see specifically where the fuel is coming from. Be very careful disconnecting the fuel line.

Looking at the parts breakout. It appears the forward fitting is for overflow, and the rear one for the evap system.

Thanks John,

I can see it leaking from the line i replaced (overflow) connected to the front nipple. I just haven't trimmed it yet and it is hanging under the bike a little extra. I will get the tank off this weekend. and try again. Is it possible that the tank is swollen so much that the left side is too wide to fit on that grommet?

Matt
