Howdy folks, last week I was riding and stopped at a light and noticed with the clutch in the bile was creeping forward while in gear. Got it home and up on the hoist and noticed oil all over the engine and above tranny. Looks like brake fluid. Anyone have a Slave Cylinder failure on the Stelvio? I only have 16 K on the bike and just had the 15K service performed. Guess that Guzzi doesn't recommend that the DOT 4 be flushed out at major service intervals. Any Who.....I am just wondering if I am the lucky guy with the failed Slave Cylinder or has anyone else experienced this? Any tips or pointers for replacement parts? I read somewhere that someone replaced the cylinder with an Aprillia Slave Cylinder because they are better???ANy feedback would be welcomed...thanks in advance.

Brake fluid from the slave I don't think would get to the top of the engine and gearbox. The slave is located at the rear center of the gearbox cover. Have you checked the fluid level? if good you may only need to bleed the system. Brake fluid is hydroscopic and should be changed at least every 2 years even if used for the clutch. It may be why BMW changed over to mineral oil for their clutch systems.

Confirm what the oil is but I don't think I have heard of too many (if any) slave cylinders on a Stelvio going. I have heard of the slave bolts getting lose but that should not cause fluid to come out unless it is damaged. Bleed the system with new fluid, check the slave bolts for tightness (at least the ones you can get to) and see what happens.

I change my clutch fluid every year with DOT 5.1. Stands up better to higher heat and doesn't tend to come out as black as DOT 4 when it is done.

Thanks, the oil is in the back of the engine and some near the dipstick in the crankcase. Oil is not engine oil, checking further today. appreciate the feedback Sir!

The master cover states DOT 4, but I will use the 5.1 as you have suggested. I will let you know what I find out regarding the oil leaking. Thanks Canuck!!
