Hi Chaps. The signs of poor clutch adjustment are present - absent neutrals, tricky box at stationary and an inclination to creep forwards. I'm hoping clutch adjustment (although the Nut is solid!) will improve these issues. But just a couple of questions - shouldn't the cable end fit into the screw collar? It doesn't. And any thoughts on the multiple washers at the arm end?! On the move the clutch is OK, it's in slow, hot traffic that it really struggles...I've had the bike, a '13 Classic, for about a year and it now has around 16,000 miles on the clock.
Thanks for any input.

Setup doesn't look normal to me, but I've not seen one of the new V7 up close. I will say that the free play at the hand lever should be 2mm.

The stack of lock-washers on the gearbox end is a tip-off, outside of the incorrect fit on the perch side. Wrong cable. Purchase and install the correct one, and your problems will be over.

Definitely wrong cable fitted at some time.
Start again with the correct one then go through the full setup process. This also means checking the adjustment of the screw in the gearbox operating arm to ensure the arm is at right angles to the cable run. Also that there is a little free play at the arm otherwise the thrust bearing won't last long. I suggest this should be done because if someone had bodged with the wrong cable, you don't know what else was done. Then adjust the cable at the lever.

err...those washers shouldn't be there AT ALL...

Cable end will fit into the color nicely...might require the rotate the metal end a bit but it does fit in.

once you get the cable in, reset your clutch lever clearance to 2mm...

If you can't get there, then some major adjustment down the engine side you go...

Good luck
