I finally had an opportunity today to put a few miles on my newly acquired ‘13 V7 Special, after a 30 mile ride I found the fingers on my right hand were tingling from the vibration. I experienced a similar issue with my 2001 Triumph Bonneville years ago. I cured the problem by installing “Grand Tourisamo” grips on the bars replacing the factory grips. Has anyone here replaced the factory grips on a V7 with another style? I have not tried to remove the end caps or grips yet, but I want to make sure the swap is feasible.
Also, is there a center stand available for this year/ model Moto Guzzi?
thanks!
Jim

Jim, per the paragraphs at the top of the page, we encourage you to search and read before starting a new thread. Most topics are well covered here. For almost any parts needs, always click on the (GTM) STORE tab above.

Sorry. I did try to search for “center stand” and “V7 hand grips” but found nothing that related to my year/ model Moto Guzzi. As a newbie owner of this make of motorcycle ( I have owned many motorcycles and have been riding for over 50 years) I was hoping to learn more about the marque. Have spent time reading through many of the old posts and have learned some interesting details but nothing that answered my questions. I guess I will keep reading and hopefully find what I am looking for. I have also looked through some of the parts offerings and have found a few items that I have added to my wish list.

Guzzi doesn't make radical changes every model year. So information on say 2010, through 2013 of the same model or model family will be accurate or at least very close. I suggest you read up on synchronization of throttle bodies if you have dual throttle bodies and electronic reset of the TPS for all models

Jim my 2015 had a lot of vibration in the foot pegs but I don't recall it having any in the handle bars. Could the previous owner have replaced the bar or the end weights? I'd start with heavier bar end weights.

Thanks for the reply. The bike has 2,800 miles on it, the previous owner did not modify or change anything. I did not notice the vibration while riding but when I got off the bike my right hand was tingling quite bad.
I am hoping changing the grips will cure the issue, or I might have to do what I did to previous bike, fill the bars with lead shot.

Check the rubber bushings in the triple trees holding the risers...
Maybe you have metal to metal contact somewhere... ... add rubber washers..?!

If the bars are open ended a "bar snake" works much better than lead shot.
I looked at the bars, removed the factory sliders at the ends of the bars, looks like the threaded insert that holds the bar ends blocks the bars from having lead or a bar snake installed. I could cut the end of the bar off, insert the snake and weld the end back on but that is too extreme at this point. ( I have a fully equipped shop)
I plan to try the Gran Torismo grips first.
Thank you for all the suggestions.

When you tire of chasing your tail on this “issue” - read this (different model, but much the same result);

Then read the reviews here;

Interesting for sure. My plans were to purchase the flash tool and go through the process after I remove the charcoal canister. I have read a number of posts that praise the flash tool, that convinced me that your tune is superior to how the bike left the factory.
Thank You

Jim did you swap out your grips? Did it help?

Yes, I installed a pair of “real” Gran Torismo grips. I also had the valves adjusted and a general once over by a Guzzi certified mechanic. I road it again yesterday and returned without the tingling in my hands that I had previously experienced. (Same pair of gloves as always) It still creates more vibration than my ‘01 Bonneville but is much more tolerable than it was before the grips and tune up.

I have a ‘23 V7 850 E5 and the throttle grip wraps over the throttle tube. Did your bike have the same OEM grip?

Yes, the throttle on my V7 looks very much like yours. The Torismo grip will not go over the raise part as shown in your photo but I found a solution that seems to work fine. In the attached photo you will see a round black ring that is between the grip and the switch module, I made this by taking a section of rubber tubbing, slitting it lengthwise and gluing the ends together. It is a stretch fit over the white plastic ridge on the throttle and fills the gap. Works for me.

Looks good. I was thinking about cutting the end off of the factory grip but would rather keep those grips intact, just in case I want to put them back on. I’ve got a bit of time so I’ll look for an already made ring like yours. Riding season is quickly coming to an end so this may turn out to be a small winter project. Thx for your replies.

Glad I could be some help. Yes, real soon all my toys will be at rest for a few months.
