I know that Guzzi does not make heated grips for the 2017 and later California's but it appears that the new V85TT has heated grips. It also appears that the V85 switch gear is the same as the 2017 and newer California's.

After previously owning a 2014 California with heated grips I now realize how much I miss the heated grips in the cold weather. My question is, does anyone know of, or care to speculate on whether the V85 heated grips might work on a 2017 California. If no, then has anyone successfully added a set of aftermarkets grips to the California.

Quite a shame they didn't think this through, there's even an on-off switch on the bike for heated grips but no heated grips as an accessory !

As i am in the process of buying a new Cali 1400 tour ánd wanting heated grips, i can answer it for you. The complete throttle grip has to be replaced and the computer has to learn how to handle the new grip :(.
I ordered the heated grips and this is what the dealer replied...................... And according to him, the grips of the later years 1400's and v85 are bigger in diameter, so aftermarket heated grips will not fit.............. Must be something Italian........................:swear:

Go to Revzilla's website, and do a search for Koso heated grips.

I have them fitted to my Indian FTR1200, but sadly they stopped working. Since they included a 12 month warranty, Revzilla replaced them.

The controller is part of the LH grip, so all you need is wire them across the battery (or anywhere else you choose). They do work well, and are reasonably priced.

Hmm, does the FTR have RBW throttle ?? I'm pretty sure it must. AF1 Racing said to be very careful fitting after market grips on the Guzzi as the RWB module is 400 some odd dollars to replace if you mess it up ...

The FTR1200 is definitely RBW. It doesn't connect to anywhere near the RBW circuitry, just a heated grip on the throttle is the closest they get. How can heated grips upset the RBW?

I do have genuine Guzzi heated grips on both my Cali 1400 bikes, but I purchased them before anything else was readily available (at a horrendous price from AF1 Racing).

    Check this thread as well:

Visir and I both installed Oxford heated grips and tied them to the factory connectors and controller that's already built-in. That is another option. You can also go with the Oxford Evo grips, which should have faster warm-up and more even temperature between left and right, but you will need to use their controller if you go that route.

The handlebar that is on the 2017+ Californias does not have any threaded holes for any of the OEM style of heated grips, so aftermarket is really the only way to go, unless somehow something else gets released this year by Moto Guzzi.

    Thanks Dave :)
Also, the difference between the grips of the V85TT, and the 1400 is the length : V85TT , 130mm, and 120mm fior the 1400 . That why it'snt possible to install the V85TT grips, and it's the only reason :))
