Paolo Lambri (Piaggio) has it confirmed!

"it is much more than a protoype, since it will be on the market next year..."

Wonder if it will make to the USA next year. Sure hope so.
If I like it I will be thinning the herd.

You know, I find this v85 quite pretty. I wish I could be comfortable with such a sit-up riding position, but I now know that I will never be able to deal with it. Ah well ... If I want a second Guzzi to keep Racer company, a Griso or a V11 Sport will have to do. :D

What does Pre selection mean?

It means "candidates that they're willing to publish to gauge reaction". They've gotten a lot of input and so far have picked a selection of candidates that they think would be good. Think of it as short-hand for "preliminary selection".

Ohhhhhhhh got it. That makes sense. Very fun.

I think that they will decide for a name that can be easily pronounced by english-speaking people too.
I bet they will choose something like "Alpina", rather than my "Nibbio".

Few days ago they published a pre-selection of names on the dedicated website.
The message is "Get ready", we will see...

(Scroll a little bit down the page)

Hmm. Where's the list? Nothing I see or click on that page nets a list of names. The only name I see is "V85 Gavia".

never mind. I kickstarted the browser again and cleared caches, then the scrolling began. Weird, overly complex web pages ... :)

Guzzi almost always uses a throw-back, and clearly it is designed a tribute to the V65TT Paris-Dakar:

GuzziDakar85

But NTX should be on the table also:

NTX650

I think both look so damn cool. What would the NTX part be or mean?

TT = "Tutto Terreno" = "All Terrain"
NTX = "Nuovo Tipo" = "New Type" (against the previous TT)

Nobody knows the meaning of the "X" letter...
