Hi, I am new here and I just bought a 2021 V7 Special. The stock seat starts to be a little uncomfortable after 100 miles. Has anyone tried the Comfort Gel Moto Guzzi seat and if so is it a good improvement over the factory seat? Thanks.

Oh for Pete's sake...Give me a break.

Seat threads are like tire and oil threads. Everybody has a differing opinion. I happen to think the stock seat on my Stelvio NTX is supremely comfortable for all day riding, but my best friend, who also rides a Stelvio, hated it and got an aftermarket seat. I hate his aftermarket seat.

I have the stock seat on all 5 of my Moto Guzzi motorcycles, and I actually love them all and wouldn't change them. You might be very happy with the stock gel seat, and I disagree that they make bad seats to begin with. It's a matter of preference and taste, and the tenderness of your tushy I guess.

Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry folks.

Having ridden horses and motorcycle my whole life, I can tell you that no saddle, ever, is completely comfortable from the onset. You must develop "saddle time" to be accoustomed to it. It takes some time to break in the saddle and your butt.

Scott, Beg to differ on this one. Many of the stock seats the foam is too soft and as the original poster stated after a hundred miles you are down to the seat pan. Soft seats are great in the show room, but wear thin on the road. On all but three of the Guzzis I've owned I've had to have seat help. The 1973 Eldorado, 1990 LeMans, and a 1993 CA III had good seats from the factory.

Thanks John!

That’s ok and expected. We’ve been here before.

In truth, the OP asked?

Has anyone tried the Comfort Gel Moto Guzzi seat…?

I think it is disingenuous and a disservice to make a statement that the manufacturer cannot make a more comfortable saddle in their gel saddle because one finds the stock seat, unsatisfactory. I say that they certainly can and do, but that it is a matter of preference.

Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry.

In Italy, this is a topic I discussed with many Italian friends of mine. The general consensus is that Americans, for the most part, are considerably heavier than the average Italian and that we have fatter asses! The truth hurts unfortunately.

I also fully believe and have experienced many times in my life, the development of saddle time (it doesn’t just occur naturally regardless of the saddle maker, it’s developed by riding) and I believe that having performed hundreds of thousands of miles of riding including coast to coast runs on this continent on different motorcycles, and also horsemanship with both English and Western saddles and tack, that I may possibly have some small understanding that might have been useful to the OP so I proffered it to them as a point to ponder.

I say to try sitting on a factory gel seat! Most certainly try it!

Check with your dealer and see if they have one. You might like it. Only your butt will know definitively.

It’s a matter of taste and preference.

Not knowing the particulars and body type of the OP, I offered my opinion, which is just, my opinion.

No better, and certainly no worse, than anybody else’s here.

I bought a standard-height MG gel saddle for my V7(I) Stone, then transferred it over to my V7II Stone. I did find it to be more comfortable than the stock saddles, but, be warned, the gel saddle can get very warm if the bike is parked in the sun. So far, I'm OK with the stock saddle on my V7 850. YMMV.

A sheepskin pad will prevent the solar gain and keep you but more comfortable.

Totally agree that no two derriers are alike so what I like may not be what you like etc. However since this whole thread began asking about the Guzzi comfort seat I wanted to chime in. I'm a short person so needed a shorter seat for my V85 and went ahead and purchased the short comfort seat from my dealer. Ironically, though meaureable shorter than the OE seat, I hardly sit lower and that is because the OE seat collapsed more with my lard-butt on it than the new gel seat. However, for me, the gel seat is more comfortable. And having two seats allows me to send one off to be "re-made" if I feel the need and not lose any seat time! Although she's yet to try it, my missus did not like her pillion on the OE seat and that is a real problem. So, maybe this new gel seat will be the answer for her. If not, I have options. All the best everyone and by all means, HAPPY NEW YEAR

Out of the way update here but I recently acquired a 2016 Eldorado which has been fitted with Moto Guzzi’s Comfort Gel saddle.

My opinion…

I love it. Works fantastic on my old fat butt. 😄👍

Was a long distance traveller around europe for a long time, no other gel alternative was better than my air hawk seat, may not be practical for daily use, tought

I bought the standard height Comfort Gel seat. It is an improvement over stock for me. I know seats are different for almost everyone but I think with some breakin miles it will be good.
Does it change the height or width at all? I find the seat on the e5 special to be too wide for my behind, and get in the way of my legs to fully flat foot.

Thinking of getting either the comfort seat or the low comfort seat since I don't find the stock seat particularly comfortable at 170cm.
