Hi folks,

I noticed in the service manual for 2021 V7 850 E5 Stone specifies 75W-140 for both the gearbox and the final drive. This is a departure from previous models which had 75W-140 in the final drive and 75W-90 in the gearbox. Any thoughts on this? It's repeated in several parts of the shop manual so it doesn't look like an error.

Most of us (even shops like mine) have been using the same GL oil for both for pretty much ever in both. If they are now spec'ing it this way, nothing to worry about for sure.

Sorry for the hyjack - but Do all the Moto Guzzi use synthétique brake fluid ( silicone vs. glycol ) is this new with the 850 ?
Or is this another terminology thing again ?
I’ve never run into anything that has use silicone fluid before, just wondering ?

Synthetic oils have been used for decades now... straight from the factory, new as delivered.

Good to know! Certainly easier than getting two different grades of gear oil.

Dead Eye, good catch but DOT 4 is indeed generally a synthethic fluid (IE made up of several things) but not a silicone. I know silicone fluid exists (often can be found as a DOT5 fluid) but isn't considered a high performance fluid by most. It has it's place, just not here IMO.
