93 California III - Fuel in Oil

Hello Guzzi Tech,

My Cali III is fuel injected and is getting fuel in the oil.

When firing the motor, I open the petcock then turn on the fuel pump prior to engaging the starter.
When killing the motor, I turn off the fuel pump and close the petcock.
I tied a bag around the petcock with it closed and the was no indication of a leak.
When removing the plugs, one was very black and sooty. I changed the oil and replace the plugs.
I am thinking there may be a stuck open fuel injector? Any suggestions on how to better isolate the problem?

Have you tried plugging the diagnostic plug together? It has a small led light that flashes a code, but has no memory so you have to do it while running or before you turn off key. That is a possibility of it being stuck open. If you had software you could operate each one and see. Todd sell software in the store here.
There is also a FI manual that covers the codes and tuning, in the download section.
Sounds like you have it figured. The injectors are a pain to get to, I go in from the opposite side of the TB you are doing w/an extension. You need to take off the connector bars from TB's if you have to rotate them to get a better angle at the block they are in.

With the seats off looking at battery area the plug & cap should be on RH side by the cross member, on the backside. A little piece of tin w/led light on it. Sort of by where the cable harness plugs into ECU.

With luck the shorting plug is still there to insert into the diagnostic connector. With many bikes of that age the shorting plug is missing. Look for the P8 manual in the downloads for the flash codes.

I see one part of plug that goes into the computer but it looks to have been bypassed at some point...

I removed the injectors and am goin to have then sent to a local fuel injector testing, cleaning and repair center here in West Michigan.

Anyone know the typical fuel line PSI for a 949?
