my first post i think this is the right place if not hopefully a moderator will help me out. :D
My first guzzi i picked it up on 21 aug from wi and road it to tx. road great all the way down to ar, then it started to get really hot ambient in the 100's i'd have to guess. as i'd roll on the throttle out of a corner or to pass a car it would fall flat on it's face. doesn't seam to matter what rpm. It seems like it's getting worse. I know it shouldn't do this. i could see a slight surge or something but this is dangerous. I'm going to adjust valves, check codes, check tps, and do what i can tomorrow with my limited amount of resources. i'm in tx for a month before heading back to CA. I have a long ride ahead of me and don't want any problems. I was going to leave tomorrow for a 4 day trip back over to the ozarks. i'm hoping i can still make it a 3 day trip and get it running better tomorrow. from what i've been able to find online and in manuals i'm hoping that a good tune will fix my problem. just wondering if anyone had any prior experience, advice you could lend me. I love the bike so far have about 2k miles on it but have to fix the FI. there's about 26k miles on the bike now i guess if that makes a difference.

thanks Sam

things are looking up

As promised, (to myself) i tore into the valves and adjusted the tps. the exhaust valves where a little loose which i found kind of odd, but better than being too tight i guess. The tps was about 100mv out . I'm happy to say that it is running much better. still not perfect but I'm no longer worried about being stranded thousands of miles away from home. I did the throttle body sync by sound/feel so i'm sure it's leaving a bit to be desired but it runs better now than the day I bought it, almost 2 weeks ago . Also, I wasn't able to ride it in really hot weather yet but I'm fairly confident that it will not hesitate like it did before. Since I had it apart I also ohmed out the air and oil temp sensors. The two differed by .15k ohm or something like that which I don't think is bad becuase that's like 5celcius if i remeber right according to the chart. I wasn't able to read the trouble codes because the second plug that the shop manual tells you to hook it to isn't there. I am pretty sure by the wiring diagram I know which ones to jumper. That being said I am not wanting to tempt fate thousands of miles from home, not to mention on my only mode of transportation. Besides a new ecu is $$$$$$$$$$expensive. Now i just have to worry about the battery, it was drained during the mv check on the tps. I think i remeber someone saying to hook up the trickle charger before you start that task... ooops

After a long hard day of scavenging tools/parts and working on the bike hung over, i think it's time for a beer maybe 2.

Thanks for the dealer info in houston, which brings me to my next question. I have 3 days to go riding a day each way to the ozarks/eureka springs, ar, or should I go check out the cool old guzzi shop in houston???

I guess since i'm here anyone know anything about reading the trouble codes? which ones to jumper? If they sell a shorting cap for it? I'll probably contact mphcycles tomorrow see what they have to say :D
