Advice: scratch on (outside) cylinder?

Hi guys, I am a new rider, just got my V7 II special a few weeks ago and I love it. It got back from its first (1000km) inspection the other day and I noticed a scratch on the outside of the cylinder, not big, but deep enough for the silver metal underneath to poke through. Some tool must have slipped during inspection. Rather than go back all the way to the mechanic and complain, I'd rather just address this issue myself. I am not so much concerned with looks, just worried this might lead to some type of corrosion later down the road. Should I be worried or just leave it be? Maybe it's completely trivial. Touch it up with some heat-resistant black paint? (I don't even know if the black surface on the cylinders is paint or some other coating material). Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

It won't cause any issues but I would call the dealer & speak with the owner if possible.
It was probably an honest mistake but the owner/manager needs to know.
It is the only way they can keep employees from becoming sloppy.

This advice comes from a business owner and as such we all like to hear praise but we also need to hear the complaints.
Do it in a good way, tell whoever you speak to at the beginning that you are not upset, that you will continue to do business & recommend them but that you felt they should know. Don't go on & on just state the facts.

Thank you! Glad to hear it won't cause issues. And I agree, informing the dealer/owner is the right thing to do (slightly unpleasant though it may be).

I took your advice and told the dealer about it. He was quite upset that this happened at his shop, and immediately said he will replace the cylinder cover (free of charge). Wow.
Thank you again for your great suggestion.
