All,

No worries still piling the miles on my 2017 Moto Guzzi V7 III Special, in fact took it out this morning for a retired guys breakfast meet up in Alvin, TX. Running fantastic and love it. It is my longer distance cruiser, and I plan on adapting it for big side bags this fall for overnights, etc.

Anyway the news: my local Triumph dealer folded last Spring. Long story short: we are down to one decent Triumph dealer in the Houston area. And they are a long freeway ride away from me, and in middle of an endless construction zone. Triumph USA seems to be into a closing dealer binge, and strategy is have fewer, but larger dealers.

Had my eye on a MV Agusta triple quite a while. Test rode a 675 MV about 3 years ago and decided on the Triumph instead. My Moto Guzzi dealer is also a MV and Aprilia dealer, and just fantastic: Italian Superbikes. They are professional in all respects, with great service and parts and absolutely professional. So, I decided to test a gallo-nero 2018 MV Agusta 800 Dragster RR last Friday. Wow...fits me, fast, smooth, and lots of personality. Dealer worked numbers and was generous with Triumph trade and so yeah...pulled the trigger. Pick the MV up later this week. Amazing machine indeed. Great complement to the Special I think. All Italian now, guess it is time to buy a Tricolore flag for my garage? Veloce! MV Brutale RR A Jul27 18

Bill,

Uh yeah the MV has some serious grunt, about 10 less HP than my Miata and 370 pounds dry weight. Engine characteristics have similarities to the 675 Triumph: smooth and predictable up to about 6000 RPM, then all hell breaks loose. Test ride was very interesting to say the least. Pick up later this week.

Given that, I have caught myself doing 90 mph on my Special on the freeway, and eyeballed by TEXAS state patrol, but fortunately not stopped since that was average speed that morning.
