Alternative engine oil

I don't know beans from whatever about it all.
I do know this. In the mid 70s, it was common for people to add an oil cooler to there inline 4 bikes when they did any hop up work. (In other words, waste money. )
Some of the early oil coolers did not have thermostats. With the lower quality oils of those day, that would mean the oil would, for normal use, stay very thick. It caused a lot of issues.
The Stelvio may not have a thermostat. It may over cool the oil at times.
Or not.

Yeah, but your problem isn't oil related Kym, its manufacturer defect relatedand yu're still wearing it, which shits me.
Fully understood and no slur intended to you or the oil you use for your service work! I was simply refering to the 5w60 Penrite oil's performance in the comparison, linked in Mi_ka's last post.
I have the engine and Gearbox out on an ATV jack. Simple enough to do. ;) So I had better go and clear the detritus from the work bench.
Swingarm pivot bearings had some grease in 'em but also a fair bit of grit and shit . me thinks a seal not right there somewhere

Please note this test is just part of the full application envelope (before we ... slip into typical slippery oil thread territory).
From my viewpoint it is a good measure for oil performance when cold particularly when starting (low oil pressure).
