It looks like Honda has told DMG to take a flying fu&% and pulled out of the Sportbike racing for next year because of the Buell crap. Bravo to them.

It's kinda sad, but since Honda was barely racing there this year I don't see that it will hurt the racing too much. And it is good to see that ex-Honda man Al Ludington is still the charming piece of work he always was. Maybe Honda can take Al with them?

What exactly would "the Buell crap" be?

the AMA/DMG rules say:
In the Daytona Sportbike class, the Japanese 4-cyl machines are limited to 600cc, but the Buell 1125R is allowed.
In the American Superbike class, the bikes must be street-legal based, but the (not-street-legal) Buell 1125RR is allowed.

Are other over 600cc pushrod twins allowed in "Daytona Sportbike? Are any other non-street legal based bikes allowed in "American Superbike"? Is the latter strictly for Harleys/Buells anyway?

The 1125 Buell is a liquid cooled, 4-valve head, dual overhead cam engine that is no relation to a pushrod sportster engine. The R version makes just under 150 HP. I would presume the RR version makes even more. The American Superbike series was recently clinched by Mat Mladin on a Suzuki--this is the top series. The Buell RR is the only non-street legal based bike allowed. There is talk (by AMA/DMG) of a Harley-only class for next year.

No. They even broke their own rules by allowing the Buell-RR (which is a big-bore motor from the RSV Aprilia essentially).
AMA Pro Daytona SportBike – Eligible Bikes: Yamaha YZF-R6, Suzuki GSX-R600, Honda CBR600RR, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, Buell 1125R, Aprilia RSV1000R, Ducati 848, Triumph Daytona 675
AMA Pro American Superbike – Eligible Bikes: Buell 1125R, Honda CBR1000RR, Kawasaki ZX-10, Yamaha R1, Suzuki GSX-R1000, Aprilia RSV1000R, Ducati 1098R

Racing (in the U.S.), as we know it, ended when AMA sold off the "rights" to the Pro Racing Series. All of the Japanese OEM's clearly stated (years ago) that they only would spend money racing in the U.S. if it were directly tied to the AMA. Those days are over.
