Just got word from a friend here in Paris. He had the oil light and 07 & 08 errors, and the Aladdin's lamp on the display. A new oil pressure sender cured that for a short while, but then the symptoms returned almost immediately, with the engine between 6000 and 7000 rpm. The old trick of starting immediately after turning the ignition key didn't work here, indicating that something really was wrong.
Today's verdict, apparently verified by a technician from Guzzi France: oil pump. Unfortunately for him, he'll have to wait for September to have work started, but at least he won't have to worry about this particular issue anymore :S
(I *presume* that replacement pumps are not prone to this failure, but do we know anything about that?!)
