The long, 181 day wait is now over. Exactly six months to the day after I totaled my GRiSO by colliding with an elk on November 1st, 2008, I picked up a new replacement from Moto International last Friday, May 1st, 2009.

After a couple of surgeries, many (continuing) physical therapy sessions, and a lot of encouragement from friends here in Seattle I am back on a GRiSO and life is good! I can't thank all the guys up at MI enough as they have been so good to me through this thing. From Greg getting the word out on the day of the accident, to Jason and Micha working with my insurance company to make the adjuster's job easier and my claim fair and smooth, and finally to Dave for bending over backwards to get me back on another GRiSO. I couldn't possibly be a more satisfied customer of and friend to the folks up there.

Life is good once again!

What an elk can do to a GRiSO at 60+ MPH:

But then comes the salvation and GRiSO #2:

Now I've got another black canvas to make something all my own!

Rock on!

I see you went with the G11 again - (that's my preference too) - I've got a bunch of bits from your old bike rolling on mine now... I hope your arm/hand is coming back to the front and good luck on your new Griso!

:) :) :)

And its finally warming up in Washington! Enjoy the riding

I'm about done redoing the seat from your old Gris and ordered up the airbox so I can try mods (bigger filter opening, ventilated lid) without screwing mine up to the point of no return;)
I appreciate the parts availability.... but please don't add any more to the market:blink:

Steak,
Great to see you on another black guzzi, some of your bits live on installed on my oft crashed griso....
well played!

I got a few of your bits too, but more importantly HOW'S THE ELK???? Did it at least end up in your freezer?

The ECU from Steve's bike is going to Todd for some experimental re-programming work. While not to be encouraged that crash HAS helped a lot of people:laugh: .

Air box lids are really cheap. I think they cost me $15 each or some such. I just ordered a couple for some experimentation.

Funny, it feels a little weird, but I am well pleased that so many have benefitted from my mishap. I actually scavenged a coupla bits from the salvager as well as I purchased the "wings" for a painting experiment. I had hoped that the T-Bones would've remained, but I guess those weren't exactly selling points. No worries, as I have cornered the local market on those accoutrements.

Initial sentiment would've liked to have seen my GRiSO live to ride again, but GEICO thought too much of the residual value for such an effort. After reading the posts here, I'm almost just as happy to see the wealth spread around.

Regarding said elk, the poor creature didn't survive more that a few moments after our meet up. My good friend Pedro did talk the Fish & Game boys out of a choice tenderloin in the hopes of buoying my hospitalized spirits, but having stared the beast in the eye at the moment of death, I just didn't have it in me to relish in my own good fortune. Karma I guess.

Spreading the love boys, that's what I'm all about.

Congratulations!

You planning on sending those pipes out to get heat treated for this bike as well? Still kicking with the idea but I enjoy riding it too much.

I received my Ventura pack and you were right, it is top notch! I am looking forward to logging some miles soon.

Looks like you'll be needing to twist the throttle on the new Griso quite a bit to rehab that broken arm. ;)

Glad to hear you came out of it okay.
