Back to Dragon Country

I have checked it, you have some good riding track video 🥰
many riders will not let you by. there is tons of turn offs but they don’t care if your faster. it gets quite dangerous trying to pass them. you only have seconds. i have other areas that are much better. 28 out of franklin to the dragon is one of my favs now. wayah rd to franklin is good too. no cops either

Yeah Moonshiner 28 out from Deal Gap to the top of Fontana Dam is a good run, although my son did have a slight mishap on his first run.

I will tell everybody within earshot, NEVER go riding agressively on Deals Gap - The Tail of the Dragon, Mt. Palomar, or any other highly curved road, etc, that you don't first ride nice and easy, (i.e. a survey lap), regardless of the distance, to be sure that you are at least basically familiar with the road and it's peculiarities.

Every road racer will tell you that they never show up at the track and run a race having never survey lapped the course at least once and most likely several times.

It's just common sense, and keeps you safer and your motorcycle parts on your motorcycle and not hanging from the Tree of Shame... :)

Liner Note: On Mt. Palomar in San Diego County, California, you are ascending a mountain and a mistake can take you for a several hundred foot drop in nothing flat!

My sons mishap was pretty much my fault as I was in the lead on my Triumph 900 and him following behind on his Cruiser when I called out a tight turn a little too late, luckly he had slowed enough that his bike just kind of flopped over in the soft grass, no damage to him and only broken mirror on his bike

Not a judgement at all...

Just sharing wisdom from 35 years of riding Mt. Palomar "International Raceway".

I have customers every week during the season, that bring their bikes to me to prep for "The Dragon". They get my 20 second lecture. Almost without exception, they come back and thank me for the advice. 👍

I love curves. I just hate to see people unnecessarily injured or their motorcycle damaged. 👌👍🤞

Yeah agreed, also cop creates a miss without any reason, which I think a rider hates nothing more than to face a cop during a trip.
