I'm a new Guzzi at. Trying to check air filter I'm unable to removed the lid. I took the battery out but I cann not reach the clip on the left side of the case ( right side of the bike) do I need to remove the side panels and other stuff? I just do not want to end with a lot of removed parts and forget how to get them back in place. thanks

Did you try a search?
If you have a bent end small pick set, you can remove the side covers and pop them loose. Nothing else needs to be removed. My favorite tool is the one below. The hard part is putting them back on if they drop down (they easily do when try to pop them back closed), into the tray below.

Always utilize your cell phone camera! Take pictures every step of the way. Every bolt you loosen and remove, every piece. Take the photos as you go along, and to reinstall, just follow the photos in reverse. you cannot make a mistake if you photo document each step as you go.

Digital photos cost nothing to take too which is spectacular!

Personally I don't think the lower clips are necessary, the lid clips in at the bottom anyway and there is hardly any difference between having the clips on or leaving them off and leaving them off makes the job a 1000% easier.
