Had bike delivered only week ago, wanted to start it, nope, battery went flat, when connecting the charger I’ve noticed that there is no battery holder, no rubber strap, nothing. Battery is just slung in between some plastic mould and electric gizmos.

OK, there is top cover but doesn’t seem sufficient.

Is it the same on other bikes?

Yup. Same layout. Since battery on my bike went flat at the dealer and they were charging it before delivery I was wondering have they lost something.

Anyhow these plastic cover looks pretty flimsy and battery being battery is fairly heavy. I think I will add some rubber strap and padding while I am at it.

The battery has been connected to charger for the night and still hasn’t fully charged.
I have sneaky suspicion new battery might be on order,

I have also checked for parasite load - somewhere on the forum problems with LCD screen are mentioned – the ammeter registered zero so perhaps no problem here.

Kevin, thanks for your response.

Hey Jakub

Worth asking the dealer to check whether the TFT screen is powering down properly. My battery only lasts a few days before going flat and it is a known issue: a batch of TFT screens continue to draw power even though the screen itself is off. Was mentioned in the depths of a Guzzi service update in November - dealer should replace the screen and battery.

The user manual informs you not to leave the ignition on for extended periods of time without the engine running due to the high current draw. If I'm working on, say setting up the dash etc I always connect a battery tender, I have a connector going permanently to the battery.

Would you happen to have Service Bulletin?
I'd more than happy to present it to the dealer.

Did check, with key on and ignition off it's about 5,5A, together with ignition it's about 7A. Fairly high but to be expected.

As for need for battery tender I have started the new topic with regards to parasite draw. I could check my bikes only but it seems with Guzzi the draw is on the high side.
