Better brakes for Le Mans

I've spent a while stripping and cleaning the brakes on my mk4 Le Mans, and the outcome was...not all that impressive to be honest. In fact they were no better at all. So my mind has turned to better calipers, in particular Brembo 4-pots as they're readily available and cheap.

Obviously I'll need adapter plates to fit them, and I found a thread on here mentioning they were available from the guzzitech store, but I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know how to get hold of them? I could measure it all up and get a local workshop to make them, but it'd be far easier just to buy them.

Also, on the thread I found, the guy was not going to de-link the brakes and said the standard front master cylinder would be fine...and that's where the thread ended. I kinda like the linked brakes, so would be tempted to stay with them if it works.
 
Saw the caliper adapters on ebay a while back, do a search there. Whether you keep the integral brakes or not seems to me that you'd have to check the suitability of the MC size to the caliper(s). EM Todd, he might make them.
 
See this link for a sample of the 40mm units. They also make 65mm adapters for the later calipers. I used the 40mm calipers and left the brakes linked. My calipers were 30/34 P4 brembo units. Try to find mint units as the dust seals are not readily available. The pistons and main seals are available as a kit. In retrospect I should have bought new calipers as advertised on ebay from time to time as it would have been cheaper than going the complete recon route I actually took.

The brakes are substantially better than original. I had to shim the calipers slightly to get them to centre on the disk - no big deal though. Also the brake pad material should be kind to cast disks. I used organic material pads.

I also installed a set of braided hoses. When I worked out the master cylinder to caliper ratios I found that the standard LM2 master cylinder sizes were perfect for a decent ratio to the new 4 pot calipers.

All told I am very happy with the results. At least I am able to ride in a spirited fashion in traffic without carrying an anchor!

Thanks for the input. I'm going to make a start on the seat this weekend while I'm waiting for payday to come, then I'll start looking at suitable calipers.
