After a hot stop-start run filtering for 5 miles or so in dense traffic, I stopped for fuel. After filling up the bike she refused to start on the button. Front and back lights don't come on and the tank box does' t open with tge button. The bikes bump starts and the front lights come in but not the back. Checked all fuses main and auxilliary and all ok. Swapped relays around too but still no start on button. The starter relay clicks and resets. I thought someone on the forum had a similar problem and traced it to a broken feed to fuse no. 2 (B) in the auxilliary cluster, but all wires are terminated firmly. I have not yet checked the starter motor to see if it works by shorting the low tension side but does anyone else have any ideas.

What is you battery voltage with the bike off and the bike running (from bumping) Sounds like sudden death to your battery. Or loose battery connections

Battery is good with 12.8 volts. It is only two years old. I disconnectec it and connectec a bettery tender and this made no difference. I have now checked the feeds to the fuses and all gave power but one - fuse B (15 Amp) in the auxiliary fuse box has no power to it. This has a solid yellow wire going to it. Unfortunately the printed and downloaded wiring diagram I have is so indistinct I cannot identify wherethis yellow wire comes from. I notice that the foglights don't work with the ignition on. Is this meant to be the case? When I got the bike in May the lights, front and back, came on when the ignition was turned on. Is this the normal process or was there a fault already showing. The bike is a 2009 model (TT ABS) BTW.

The starter spins up when shorting the solenoid but there is no click when pressing the start button from the solenoid. All low tension connections have been checked and cleaned. I think there is a break in continuity on the yellow wire so any advice on where this wire goes, if there are any otger fuses other than the main, the abs and the auxiliary sets and how I could bypass this yellow wire I woukd be grateful.

John, just read this before you posted. Might offer a solution. Pretty poor stuff from MG to wire the bike so marginally, especially after so many years of doing the same! I woukd still lije a good quality wiring diagram any idea where on this forum I can find one? I did download one but it was unreadable.

Got a good quality wiring diagram elsewhere on the forum. This one is colour-coded and more readable. Looks like the problem is in the ignition switch not passing current to the circuit. Would explain all the related issues of lights, tank locker not opening etc. Will investigate this and report back.
