Braided oil hoses rubbing on chin spoiler

Got back after my ride yesterday and noticed that the left hand braided hose to the oil cooler has been rubbing on the Breva's chin spoiler. There's a little semi-circle worn away in the plastic. There are also a few strands of the metal braiding loose which I discovered by the usual method of feeling the hose and having one stick through my thumb! It was dark so I'll clean the bike and look at it later today (after golf). Hopefully the braiding isn't too damaged and I'll get away with some tape on it.

Anyone else seen this?

Hi Geordie,
I had the same problem on my Breva i put some 'spirawrap' on the l/h hose and blended the area on the chin spoiler,no probs now!.
'spirawrap' is flat sectioned spiral plastic used for protecting hoses and looms i guess you can get it from a motorfactors store mine comes from the aviation industry

Cheers Cliffy. There's only a few frayed strands of the braid so I've wrapped sometape round for now and will look for a better tape later.

Just went and had a squizz at mine - same deal. A bit of a wear mark where the LHS one touches the chin fairing.

Got out the trusty Dremel and took some of the plastic away (I love holes) - all good now.

not sure what the pressure in those lines is. I expect the braiding is more fo protection of the rubber than anything else. Still a good thing to catch early rather than have oil pissing everywhere tho!

Mine are OK too, but were coated with black gunk which wiped off OK. Couldn't find any leaks, though. The radiator doesn't seem very securely mounted - just one bolt at the top.

I think you'll find the black gunk is brake dust. Mine was like that for a few months from new but doesn't seem to get black any more.

yeah that's why the front brakes don't work anymore, no more pads left. But look at it this way, easier to clean.

I can just about flat foot the bike so can stick my heels down if the brakes don't work ;-)

Not sure why but there was an awful lot of brake dust for the first few months. Maybe I'm such a smooth rider that I rarely use them now.

No real damage on my hose, just a few frays on the braid. Anyho... thought I'd check out a replacement. MG part is £62 !!!!!! FFS it's only a bliddy hose!

Hi Geordie,
Just an idea check out yellow pages for 'Pirtek hydraulic hoses and assemblies' they are nationwide and build hoses to order over the counter..food for thought,i used to work for them and have made many a pwr steering / oil cooler line for cars. Geordie wrote:
