Can this yellowish residue on the lever be an indication of a possible brake fluid leak (albeit a minor one)?
The piston pushing rod also seems to have its rubber gasket deformed a bit:
The free play is way too much and this is the reason why the stoplight gets activated on its own
(no active braking yet but the lever pushes the switch).
My mechanic says this much of play on the lever (some 10 to 15 mm at the lever tip) could be the symptom of the pump nearing the end of its life. Can it be the case? The brake still works as expected, but I don't think there is any adjustment that could minimize this free play to an acceptable level.
By the way: I could not find any repair kits for this brake pump (Brembo PS 16/22).
Is the repair possible, or the only option is to get a brand new pump if it turns out this one
is in really bad shape?
