in Port McNeill, BC. I will be picking up a 2010 V7 Classic in black in about 3 weeks. I am coming from; a '69 Triumph in the basement, along with my '72 BMW R60/5, my '82 Yam Seca bought new, an '08 KLR650, and a '72CB450 project. I sold a great but under-ridden 2002 Triumph Sprint RS 955 last summer (sigh).
Hoping for a few tech tips, and perhaps I can make a few suggestons myself, having wrenched a fair amount on the BMW Airheads pre- 1983.

Cheers to all, Alan

Very nice stable and the V7 will be a great addition! Now the wait for delivery begins :(

Cheers

Bob

Alan, welcome... is your Seca a 550 or 650? Turbo?

I'm sure you'll enjoy the V7C, just a few mods are a must.

If you wrench air heads, the Guzzi will be a breeze.

Be sure to post pictures and add your info to the Registry (top right tab above) when you can. If you need any help with any of that, you know how to reach me.

Again welcome aboard.

Alan, enjoy the V7 (as I am sure you will!), and welcome!

I take it that in your part of the world on Vancouver Island, the roads will be clear and quite ready to ride when you take delivery?

Bruce

Welcome my fellow British Columbian, always nice to see a fellow west coaster join up! I spent a bit of time in Port McNeill myself back in the 70's. I'm sure you will enjoy your new V7 and this is a great place to ask questions and get a good bit of information on the brand.

Hello and thank you very much for the warm welcomes. The weather up here is phenomenal right now, 53 degrees at 5 pm. The catch is road salt... our town has a brine tanker which comes out at the slightest hint of a chilly evening, and lays down a pretty good salt solution which of course keeps the roads wet and messy even after they would have normally dried off, and I am not interested in corrosion.

My Yammie is an '82 Seca 650, Canadian model (maroon) with the factory double front discs and oil cooler.

I am interested in the mention of modifications from the start. The dealer "deal" supposedly includes a centrestand. I will be looking for suggestions for a simple windshield pretty soon. I liked the "Touring International" BMW windshield and brackets on my R100.

I have read all that I can find, and I realize that some riders find that the V7 is "under-powered". This, I think, will not be an issue for me, as the R60/5 is no powerhouse, my (sold...sigh) R100/7 was OK, my KLR is fine, my Triumph TR6R never had 48 hp when new, and the Triumph Sprint RS that I sold was just far too exciting. (well, not really, but I told the local RCMP sergeant that he could either try to catch me or take my keys right away, his choice...)

I am getting the bike from SG Power Products in Victoria (450 kms away)

Cheers to all, Alan L in Port McNeill

Welcome Alan!

I'm actually heading your way sometime this summer. Having explored much of the Lower mainland, it's time to start on the Island. The new V7's look great, not that my Breva's not (just that yours looks cooler).

My first bike was a Seca 400. No brakes to speak of and very little power. Dead reliable, I loved it. Used to travel from Calgary to Vancouver in 10.5 hours. Lying down on the (unfaired) bike the whole way with my feet on the passenger pegs. Just to make it to a party. Ah, to be 17 again.
