Breva 1200 front suspension

Hello all.
I'm new here, having just done over 1,000 miles on a new Breva 1200.
I want to sort out the sag so that I can set the suspension up for my riding weight.
Straightforward enough but - - the Guzzi manual that came with the bike doesn't tell me which bit does what on the front suspension.
I think (sitting on the bike) that the left adjustment is the pre - load, and the right side adjusts the damping.
Am I right please :unsure: ?

Hmmm. I have done a bit more searching, and I'm guessing that there is only pre-load adjustment on the front forks. In which case, I think I'll be needing better fork springs and thicker oil. Any suggestions ? I'm in the UK.

I don't have a Breva, so I'm not sure what the adjustments do. But if there is preload it would be on both forks equally. Something to remember about preload is that it doesn't, when used properly, make the suspension stiffer or softer. What it really does is change the ride height/sag. It will still take the same amount of force to compress the suspension an inch as it did before, only the ride height is different. If you need stiffer springs (my brief ride on a Breva screamed for stiffer springs) then I would buy them. They are not that expensive. When you get stiffer springs you may need more rebound dampning and while the best way to get that is a revalve, typical Marzochi design uses one leg for comp and the other for rebound. That would allow you to change the oil weights independently.
 
Motonuzzi: On your Breva Have you got a normal ,medium ,and maximum load setting listed in your owners manual? I'm heavier than your average for sure and on my Stelvio I found the back end wallowed in bumpy corners. What i tried before changing anything, was to set both front and rear preload ,compression and rebound damping as per the medium load setting , which for just me on the bike works great. Just a thought if you haven't tried that, might save some aggro and some cash.

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply.
Having read a few post on the subject now, I'm going to set the rider's sag for my kitted up, riding weight, and then adjust accordingly.
I only weigh about 155lbs, so with kit on, I'm thinking that the middle settings will be about right.
If there is still too much fork dive for my taste, I'll get stiffer springs and maybe heavier weight fork oil.

The front forks benefit from at least a 10W oil rather than the 4W that seems to be put in at the factory.
