Hi. I have a clutch related problem on a Breva 750. As I am slowing to a stop and pull in the clutch I get a loud squeal from the clutch area. If I put it in neutral and let the clutch out, the noise goes. The noise will speed up and slow down with engine revs. It almost always does it at this time. Any suggestions??

Rattle and noises from a pulled clutch is fully normal to a Guzzi. Some sounds more, some less. Giving diagnosis on sounds as per describtions really isn't easy, but please inform us on model year and milage.

Sounds like it's the thrust bearing in the back cover of the box. You can get at it without removing the box, but you do have to take the swinging arm off. Then you can get at the clutch operating lever. You will see the pushrod, and under that in the box end is this bearing.
If it has seized then you could end up welding the main clutch push rod to the clutch itself.

Hi Brian - have had that out, if it is the flat roller bearing you are referring to( has a thrust washer on each side and it allows the pushrod to rotate). Was able to remove it without dropping the swingarm - seemed fine and had lube oil on it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Gidday - it is a 2005 model with 17,000 miles. The noise probably started around 10,000 and the clutch still operates normally but the the noise is concerning. Would expect some noise from a dry clutch but this sounds abnormal to me and a local Guzzi guy has never heard it from a Breva before.
Cheers.

Thanks Kevin but the pushrod and bearing at the swing arm end are rotating normally. Just been thru Howick on the bike to go to a wedding before heading to Cape Reinga.
Cheers.
