My fault really, went on holidays, left the Breva in the shed for a month , he's called Brevan after a friend of mine, his favourite saying was " I'll never say no to a ride !" But bikes can sulk you know. I never told him about the BMW GS i spent the next 3 weeks with. ( bike tour of South Africa - thats another story) It was an unexpected pleasure. Somehow I think Brevan knew I'd been unfaithful and had it in for me.
I came home just hanging to see some more Ausssie hills scenery, but Brevan had different ideas, when I fired life into his lusty engine, pulled into the street and we hadnt got past the first roundabout near my house when Brevan decided to break the brake. Well the rear brake pedal kind of fell off its perch , as the alli casting that it pivots on just broke off the main bit. so its hanging there but aint doing much to prevent forward motion. Who woulda thought ?
Unfortunately for Brevan it wasnt just a 2015 Bmwobble you he should watch out for.
After his decision to fail to proceed ( or is that fail to stop? ) , I threw my leg over ol faithfull , and after a practised tickle and caress then a swift kick in the guts , my 43 year old Norton came to life and took missus and me on a pleasurable Sunday afternoon ride. No more dramas.

C'mon now...don't leave us hanging! What's Brevan's fate? Healing or taken out behind the barn?

Thank you for the correct usage of break and brake. Just helped a co-worker through a problem with the 'break' switch on his Mercedes. ;)

Good on ya Lee , I used to be a proof reader in a past life. Spelling unaccruracies drive me crazy!
Well Brevan is just resting and having a good hard look at himself whilst Norton went out to play again today.
Guzzi will happily sell me a new footrest hanger for near 500 big Aussie dollars , but it will be black not original silver /grey. So I would need to paint it or buy two new black ones so they match. that aint going to happen. I'd like to think someone out there already redesigned the whole thing and have one that puts the rider peg in further, lower and a tad further back , so my ankles dont hit the footpeg every time I stop and put feet on ground. Oh and wont just break after 10 years . I've done only preliminary research, but not much to encourage me so far.
Cheers
Dave rrrrr

You don't mention the year or if it is a 750, 1100 or 1200. I did a quick search at a local salvage yard that seems willing to take chances on parting out wrecked Guzzi's but I didn't see anything. If it is a 1200 the Norge is probably the same and is silver. Has to be a used one out there somewhere. That price is insane.

Hi kiwi dave , and abnormal ,
aussie dave here , Brevan is a 1100 , yeah as Guzzi owners we adhere to the minimal $$ theory.
Besides I'm saving to replace two head gaskets. Everyone else seems to blow valve cover gaskets - me never , but both head gaskets leak oil. ( only 22000kms)
Kiwi - Glad to hear the weld held ( good one eh?) , i thought that option would only be creating a new break point , so may try to sus out a decent ali welder. Wish me luck !

Yeah, but the auction says Left/Brake side. Been a while since I braked with my left foot. I do not want to change back.
Heh, posted too early apparently. Now revised to state Right/Brake Side. Thanks.

ha ha , well certainly the Guzz is right side brake, ( or is that broke? ) but my 72 Commando is left brake , same as my 72 V7 Sport.
You have to ride both regularly and somehow it is mostly automatic ?
I once also had a Triumph at the same time with right gearchange but opposite up/ down to the Norton , ah life was interesting back then , luckily my reactions were probably sharper too !!!
There are a lot of Guzzi owners that have Commandos I have known over the years, but thats off topic !
back to the point - typically everything I have had posted from the us has cost $40-50
still considering options.
thanks all
Dave
