as a new owner of a second hand breva 2006 750, am really dissapointed by the problems i am having and want to know if it 'usual'. my gearbox started leaking, though it has supposidly been rebuilt. they sent away for seals, and then on opening the gear box discoved one gear had discoloured... so they are thinking its damaged/worn.... is this normal, and if not.... whats going wrong?

I wouldn't say its normal. That gearbox is supposedly only 3 years old.

Sounds like something has gone wrong with it or someone has gone wrong with it. :(

I'm not saying that the P.O. has flicked passed a lemon but what do you think?

Never quite sure if you 'mericans are talking about the gearbox (the one with 5 + some more options  ) or the bevel box, but I take it as the gearbox.

I can't recall any issues with the gearbox, despite occasionally a few to many neutrals. It's an old and reliable construction.
A discolored gear would to me indicate overheating; would that be because somebody went for a ride without any oil in the box?

Sure sounds like a lemon. Did you get some kind of guarantee when you bought the bike?

Never had any problems with my 2005. Just changed the gear oil two weeks ago. Clean as a whistle. Never a leak. Someone, something, has damaged that gearbox.

If your saying that it's leaking it could have run too low on oil and burnt the gear up. This happens mostly with the input gear and the gear that runs with it in the clutch cover'

Hi,

Which gear are we talking about ??? was it the fifth gear ???

Would be good to do the breather hose adaption up to the steering head (8 or 10mm ID) You can fill to the threads of the plug (1.2 Ltr) with no blow out, just might help that fifth gear, Warwick :cheer:
