I got a set of hyperpro fork springs and YSS (RG302) rear shocks sprung for my weight with riding gear and normal luggage from Todd. DIY Installation was really simple (I needed to change the fork oil anyway ;) ) and the result is so very nice. FWIW I think the new fork springs make the biggest difference, especially with hard braking. I am still farting around with the rebound setting on the shocks but they feel much better, like not anywhere near as bouncy, as the stock ones. If you want to get your smallblock something for Christmas...

Right!
I made a Wilbers upgrade when the girl was only a year old, and have had no regrets. The OEM components are, well, not really top-of-the-end components.

I'm going to be wanting a shock upgrade (when I can afford it;)).

I just took my CB500X on back roads today for the first time since buying my Breva, and the suspension is so much more plush than the Breva :(. When I bought the Breva, the shock was cranked up so there was about 1 3/8" of thread showing: hard as a rock for my 175 lbs. I dropped it down to 1/4" of threads showing and its quite a bit better but still wanting compared to the Honda. I still lose my line cornering on uneven pavement when I'm hustling. Bummer cause there's more power available on the Breva that I'm afraid to tap. I'm not a speed junky by any means either. I'd just like to make use of the lovely torque the bike makes.

NOLA, may I ask what your YSS shocks set you back?

750? Twin shocks yes? The post above was from 2009, so ~7 years old already. Careful on what you do with your shocks. Read up on setting shock sag (Google it), and be sure you don't have to far too soft now. This will make it feel harsh as it's likely bottoming out. I don't sell YSS any more, as there are many other better alternatives now. See the Store tab above for my V7 offerings.

Thanks. Yes, they're twin Sachs. I did read the date of that post and know how to set sag. Perhaps its because of the bike's age, but they're compressing very little when I sit on the bike. I'm wondering where others have their shocks set for their weight. It sounds like they're not the best......
I'll definitely check out the Store tab. Thanks for the tip!
