Brilliant!

So, 'We made an entirely stupid crap design choice with the plug boots, but it isn't our fault and we won't cover any damage\repairs becasue of it'... very brilliant - at least they did not recommend a large hammer..

well it took 3 years before someone thought about this. before that they made a special tool, that no-one has.

and while this will work fine for the Griso, Stelvio and 1200 sport, (Or I assume it will. :D ) when the Norge gets the 8V motor you still won't be able to get a screwdriver into the 'ole!!!

The crazy thing is if they had simply made the cap removing tool affordable, (Over here they want something like $200 for it. I mean ??? WTF??) all of this stupidness could of been avoided. Customers would of been happy, etc, etc..

Pete

Well for the Norge, I figure they will eventually provide a kit to put a hole in the plastic body work, along with a rubber plug, so you CAN get the screwdriver in. Just like they did for the oil dipstick.

I personaly think someone got some new design software fro Christmas, but does not understand the meaning of 'simple to repair\service' and 'plastic body parts must not fracture at the slightest application of engine vibration'... ;)

I still like my Norge though.. :D

Does the manual state at what service interval one changes the elastic bands? :(

...... and before all this how did they open the valve cover ..... before getting to the boot ?

I just went to look at my bike. With the exhaust header and intake manifold in place, the screwdriver method may cause more damage than other improvised methods.

I love the Italian sense of humor
