So I found a used Audace traded in with 75 miles on it. I got it for under 10 grand. They took my Victory Octane in trade and a small amount of cash. So I might be dumb but now I have a California touring and a Audace. I love the way this bike rides.

One can never have too many Guzzis, even of the same genre... congrats again!
Love to get the VIN# etc for the first post here.

Hi TODD,
2013 California Touring Whitte

Thanks much. Can you check the VIN# for me, a few digits seem off. First should be a Z, and the last 6, only showing five digits.

Traded in after only 75 miles? WHAT was that person thinking?

I have been on this forum for a number of years now and not got round to posting any photos of my Gizzi
so here goes, I had a white one before I got this one, had it for three years and thought I would get the new model. IMG 20170604 150946 IMG 20170604 151145
I already had a comfy gel seat from my last bike but it was black and white so I had it recovered by a company called Sadlecraft abut 40 miles up the road from me and he embossed the Moto Guzzi in the seat and it looks the buisness as if you put a top box on the back like I have you loose the one at the rear of the seat.
I have had some issues with the new bike as I have mentioned in previous posts on this forum but hope most of the niggles will be sorted soon, I have ordered bar risers from here so looking forward to putting them on as it sounds strange but the new bike seems harder to control at slow speed around town traffic.

a lot of the extras came off my old bike and straight on the new one with out any issues namely the hand guards, Lafraconi exhaust, horns and vario screen which is a god send to rid the buffering
I have enjoyed the forum and had some good advice from people.

stay rubber side up

Hi,
I got my 2013 Custom in 2016 in Melbourne with only 2000km.
I'm planning to buy the MG Saddle Bags and the Top Box for a trip to Tasmania in Oct/Nov this year. Any recommendations which one - 50l or 65l?

Tomorrow, my '14 California Custom is in for the 10K (6.2K miles) service at the local Guzzi dealership. I'll be also be picking up the 50L top case ordered 3 weeks ago. At the time I ordered TC the parts manager told me these ship from Italy and can take up to 8 weeks to arrive, so 3 weeks is quick.

I figure the 50L will be more than adequate for my needs.
Criteria; Must: Have a backrest. Hold 2 full face helmets. Be big enough and secure enough to carry a laptop, shoes and a jacket for the days when I ride to work.

The backrest is probably the most important. my wife isn't comfortable on the pillion seat without one, and inclined to ride her 250 Honda Rebel. Spouse as pillion without a backrest or riding with a Honda Rebel may build character, but both require way too much self control.

I'll post a picture, or three once I have the TC fitted.

Regards

My California Touring is fitted with the 50L top case (see profile pic), which is fine for my needs and IMHO looks better and is certainly way less expensive than the 65L option.

Go with the 50L top box and save a lot of money....

Update to prior post.

Had 10K service done Saturday (jun-17) at Marietta Sportscar and Vespa. Service was completed as promised, on time and budget.

50L OEM top case (TC) was waiting for pickup. Shiny parts are paint matched to the bike. TC seems well made, meets my criteria. and comes with; mounting plate, necessary hardware, and detailed instructions with pictures.

It took approximately 15 minutes to install the mounting plate and click the TC in place.

Wife approves of the backrest, especially how it kept her on the seat when I temporarily "forgot" she was behind me and regressed to my normal throttle management practices :)

TC holds my backpack, shoes and a sports jacket, with a little space to spare, OR my helmet, jacket and boots (for work days) OR 2 full face helmets (for coffee runs, errands, bike nights etc). Probably OK for a casual weekend away for my wife and I, assuming a hotel/motel stay IF I get to pack. IMO it's not large enough to hold everything 2 people need for a weekend camp out, even if I pack.

I take lousy photographs so probably won't post any pictures.

PS. The TC is embossed inside with "SHAD" and bears a remarkable resemblance to an aftermarket line of TC's of that name.

Yes, SHAD is the manufacturer. But, it is made special for MG so SHAD accessories will not work on it.
In spite of that I so have the SHAD brake light that mounts under the top case. It took some minor modification, but fits well.

Thanks for the many replies - I'm leaning towards the 65l box. At least I won't accused later on by my wife later on if not everything fits in ;-)
