I have a friend who is 6'10" and big. He is looking at migrating from a Yamaha to a Guzzi California if he can be fitted on to a Touring. His Yamaha Star had to be modified by moving the seat about 3 inches back and foot controls moved 4 inches forward for him to barely fit. He has asked me to ask on this forum if similar modifications are possible or have been made by anyone with similar 'dimensions' to fit themselves to a California. We just came back from a 8 day ride during which he wasn't very comfortable and his back gave him problems halfway into the journey. His other option is an Indian which too will have to be modified but the dealer says it can be done with some factory options available at the time of ordering. However his first choice is the Touring :inlove:, It will be great if we can keep him on a Guzzi.....
Cheers!

As much as I love Guzzi he would really be better off finding a Victory Cross bike.
Even tho Vic's are no longer being produced they are still one of the most comfortable bikes for bigger riders (& us small guys too).
Right now they are really low priced bikes at least in the USA. They will go 100,000 miles with reasonable care.

Beware of the Indian & the dealer stating it can be modified to fit him.
Before spending that kind of money he needs to join a few Indian forums & even some Victory forums to hear what owners have to say.

Anything is possible with money of course. There's many Guzzi Cal 1100 owners who are that tall or taller, and have ridden 100's of thousands of miles. Up to him if he likes the bike enough to invest in it. Those who don't know that I do a considerable amount of work with Polaris Indian, I can confidently say that they do not offer any customization from the factory that I am aware of, unless it's a regional change outside of U.S. production. That said, outside of the engine layout, all of the Indians are (Fox) air-assist monoshock. That alone might make it worth it to him, as you will never get a twin shock bike to ride like one.
All said, I'm a diehard Guzzi guy, so happy to be of help however I can. Email direct only; Todd at GuzziTech.com

Thank you everyone...I have passed on a link of this topic to my friend so that he can decide what's suits him better.
Cheers...

While we are on the subject of fitment....can anyone advise on what is the best way to reduce the height by 1" on an Eldorado. I feel if I can lower it one inch it will be ideal for me. Is the MGX 21 seat lower or the same height as the Eldo?

I would suggest the most cost effective solution would be to have the seat altered i.e. lowered. For a speedier and more technical response maybe post on Ask the Wrench (if you have donated).
